DEKINMAX Mini Smart Plug Remote Control

So for Christmas I bought myself an Amazon Echo and have fallen in love with Alexa. So I have been trying to find new ways to fully integrate her into my home and life. Now there are a thousand and one different "smart plugs" out there on the market. Some of them are actually "Amazon Certified" and others are not. I was happy when I found this plug. I took a chance on it, because it wasn't certified by Amazon, but the manufacture assured me that there was and Alexa Skill that allowed it to work with the voice commands. So I got it and plugged it in. Now I was assuming it was like some of my other plugs that i have and that I would just go into the Alexa app on my phone and set it up. Well there were a few more steps to it than that. But being a guy I dont ever read instructions. One because when I do a product review on something I want to try and get it working intuitively not by following the directions. And two, I hate reading. Some of these instructions are written in "Engrish" and have sentences like "if you would please to insert the device into electricity and pause for lights to quickly blinking in rapid fashions"

But the instructions were actually pretty straight forward. Once I downloaded the App for the plug (which there are two on the market and you need to be aware of that you want the app SmartLife and not the Tuya app.) Both apps work, but only SmartLife connects to the plug. This was part of my learning curve. I had downloaded and installed Tuya without reading or scanning the QR Code in the instruction booklet. But once I got everything all hooked up, Alexa did her job and turned lights on and off for me.
So when ordering this device, take a few moments to read and download the right app. If you dont already have a QR Scanner on your phone there are plenty of free ones on the App Store and Play Store. All in all I am really happy with this plug and recommend it to anyone looking for a good decently priced smart plug.
