Renting with Budget Rental Cars

So I recently went on vacation (and at the time of writing this am still on vacation) to California, and while I was out visiting family I rented a car from Budget and went through the Palm Springs International Airport kiosk.

Now I have never personally rented a car before, so therefor I had no idea what the process entailed. I had always heard about Hotwire.com and never really ever used it but decided to take a look at it and see what it was all about.

I found a great subcompact for well within my meager budget, and when I went to pick the car up I was really nervous. Well thankfully the good folks at PSP Budget really made the transaction smooth. I approached the counter, where I was greeted by the whole Avis Budget Group, and was asked a few questions, provided them with the Hotwire confirmation code, and my credit card and drivers license and moments later I was in my first rental car.

I was put into a Ford Fiesta. Now im not a car guy at all, but I was really pleased with all the features this car had. It had carwide bluetooth, satellite radio, power everything, great gas milage, a kicking sound system, and an AC that would allow for hanging meat.

Well shortly after my visit to the Salton Sea, I had to call Budget Roadside Assistant because well the AC went out on it :( and it was 125 outside. So driving in 125 weather with no AC is not as fun as it sounds kids.

I was instructed by Budget to take the car back to PSP, and exchange it free of charge for a new car. I was really excited about this, seeing since this was my first time renting a car and what have you. So when I get back to the airport it was a bit of a circus trying to find me a new car as their selection was really limited due to the fact that we were coming up on the 4th of July.

I tried out 3 other options but each of the other cars were just to small and unsafe for me to drive. One of them was a Toyota Yaris, and I was just to big, and tall to fit into it comfortably. So finally after about an hour of walking back and forth in the Palm Springs heat (and on the verge of heatstroke) Robbie Daniels ID#40966 upgraded me at no additional charge to a Ford Focus.

Again not being a car person, but I fell madly in love with this car. It had power, it was stylish, it had amazing features, and was pretty good on gas too.

The only issue I really noticed with the car was its numerous blind spots. But thankfully with the rear back up camera, and the fully extendable side mirrors that wasn't to big of an issue. I really must say that Robbie went above and beyond in his customer service and I felt that my safety and comfort was priority to him. I wish that every company had a Robbie.

Over all my grand total for renting the car was $190.19 for one week with unlimited mileage. It would have been $140 had I reserved it when I was at home but hey it was well worth every penny for the amazing customer service, and excellent car. I would highly recommend Budget Rentals to anyone looking for a car.

Make sure to shop around online too to find the very best price. Sometimes you can find specials and other promotional codes or discounts that are not advertised.
