Daylio Mood Tracking App

Simple, easy, and helpful. These are just some of the words that I would use to describe this app. I will open up a little and let you all know that I suffer from depression and bipolar 1, as well as a few other mental health issues.
I was looking for apps for a friend of mine who suffers from Agoraphobia, depression, isolation, and other mental health issues and self harm. I always tried to be there for them as much as I could, but I also liked to try and help them as I found new ways to help myself. Daylio is one of those "happened upon by chance" apps that I found one day while looking for something to help them. Sadly she passed away 4 days ago, before ever having a chance to check it out.

I have been using this app myself now for 3 weeks. I have logged my daily emotions and feelings and found that up till the time of her passing. Certain days I was just "meh" all day long. Where other times I had a whole variety of emotions. There is a notation feature, that allows you to type in a little
blurb about how you are feeling and what activities you were/are doing
at that moment (screen shot from someone else).

Now this is a "freemium" app. You can do a few things with the unpaid version, however, I opted to pay the $3.99 for the app to unlock all of the features. These unlocked features let you customize your Feeling Bar with other more personalized feelings. You still get the same look, but when you tap on one of the faces your customized responses fall under the category that you assign that feeling to. The feelings you start off with are Rad, Good, Meh, Bad, Awful. You also get to customize what you are doing at the time. There are a wide range of pre programmed activities like Watching Tv to Relax. Ive created several for myself so far. I find however, that most times the preprogrammed ones work just fine for how im feeling.

At the end of each week, your weekly chart is prepared for you and you can download it or print it off. Now these features get a bit tricky, as with Android, you are only able to select the way you wish to view your chart once. Then you are "locked" into using that method pretty much forever. I've talked to their customer service several time about this feature and was able to clear it once, but then i accidentally tapped an app on my phone and now it only wants to use that app which searches for other bluetooth items, and there is no way that i can figure out, how to undo this. I even tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling it, but nothing worked. I think mainly to do with the fact that it backs itself up to Google Drive. Therefore I assume that the system settings are stored with that data too.
Another handy feature that Daylio has is the "PIN Lock". This keep your personal feeling and information that you put into the app, private. Which is a handy feature if you are a private person. I haven't used this feature as I live alone, and never leave my phone where anyone can get to it. And even if they do, so what lol.

There are still so many features that I dont even know what they all do. But I do know this. It makes it easy for me to have something that I can quickly jot down how I am feeling and what has caused me to feel that way. It is quickly becoming a valuable tool in helping me and my councillor figure out my mood shifts and swings.
