GEYIIE Soothing Sleep Plush NIght light Toy
So it isn't to often that I do product testing for baby toys, but today was one of those times. A good friend of mine had a baby this summer, and the baby is just old enough to start playing with toys.
Now, as a rule, I am against giving parents toys that 1. require batteries and 2. make noise. However, I had to break my rule when this cutie came in the mail the other day. It is made of some of the softest material that I have felt. Its really soothing and plush. And the head of the little octopus is made of either silicone or a really soft squishy plastic. Though, the mechanism that does all of the singing and lighting up is a really hard plastic right underneath. So there's that. But it does light up in several colors.
It also has a three setting power switch that allows for 2 modes of play. The first mode is the song mode. There are four buttons inside the different arms that change the melodies that it plays. As the song plays the colors change from a soft blue to a warm red.
The second mode is the fun "boppy" mode. Where each time the head is hit, the lights flash, and a "whacking" or "bopping" sound is made. I found this mode to be the most interactive, and the first mode to be more for lulling the child to sleep.
The other thing that I really loved about this cute little toy, is that the battery cover is screwed into place so the batteries wont come out during play. This is both a blessing and a curse. The curse being that you always need to locate a screwdriver whenever you need to change out the batteries.
As for the packaging. Well, it came in a really cute little box. But there were no instructions on how to operate the toy. Nor anything about the functions. Just two instruction sheets (one in English and the other in Spanish) about the type of batteries that are needed. So I had to do the discovery of functions on my own.
All in all I would say that for a first toy, this was a success. The parents were really thankful to have this and the child really loved playing with it. So it looks like "uncle" is going to have to go and get more toys. Thankfully the holidays are quickly approaching and will give me a reason to go shopping.
